State Registered Occupational Therapist BHSc(Hons) Occupational Therapy 2.1

Professional Membership:

Member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and registrant with the Health Professions Council. Member of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section in Independent Practice and of the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF)

Independent Work:

The assessment of adults with physical disabilities and/or head injuries and the preparation of occupational therapy medico-legal reports in compensation claims. Treatment of adults with head injuries or physical disabilities.

Current NHS position:

Band 7 Occupational Therapist on a community rehabilitation team for adults with traumatic brain injury.

Responsibilities:

The assessment and treatment of the rehabilitation needs of head injured persons whose physical and/or cognitive and behavioural disabilities are affecting their occupational performance in activities of personal care, domestic skills and leisure and vocational activities.

Previous employment:

Leeds NHS Trust 1994-1999
OT on acute medical, surgical and care of the elderly wards. 6 month secondment in palliative care at St Gemma’s Hospice.2 years on the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit.

Leeds Community Trust 1999-2001
18 months on the community rehabilitation unit for people with chronic neurological conditions. 6 months as Senior Occupational Therapist for the Leeds Head Injury Team.

Bradford Hospitals Trust 2001 - onwards.
Senior Occupational Therapist for people with traumatic brain injury on a neurological rehabilitation unit. Currently seconded to the Bradford Community Head Injury Rehabilitation Team.
